Measure Drawing at Hujia Garden Nanjing (胡家花园)

As a given assignment for a class named Basic Preservation and Management of Architecture Legacy, 8 of us are assigned to measure a few houses (民居)located at Mingyang road (鸣阳街)

The residents who stay here have moved out recently and the condition of the houses are in a mess. We  have to climb into the house through the backyard window.

We were told to assemble at the site  last Saturday and were shortly brief through by a guided teacher.Three people have to work in a group to complete the whole measure drawing in 2 weeks.

The houses allocated for our group is quite big  ,but there are not much details except the old doorways. The space layout follows Chinese traditional courtyard design where a few collection of blocks are separated by courtyard.

First floor is brick and timber structure while second floor structure is mainlyconstructed by timber.

 The whole house is using the wood ladder rather than a proper staircase to connect first floor and second floor.According to our measure drawing teacher, our drawings will be used for the future conservation of this area after they dismantled the whole site.
